Mary Alice Fisher, Ph.D

Presentation: Recognizing the Ethical Challenges in Your Own Setting

Mary Alice Fisher, Ph.D. is founding Executive Director of The Center for Ethical Practice and a clinical psychologist in private clinical practice in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she provides psychotherapy for adult clients and ethics consultation for mental health professionals. Dr. Fisher is a member of the adjunct faculty of the University of Virginia Curry Programs in Clinical and School Psychology. She is the author of two books and numerous journal articles on topics related to clinical ethics.

For over 30 years, Dr. Fisher has conducted continuing education workshops on ethical issues and ethical-legal conflicts in clinical practice. For her work with Virginia clinicians, she received an award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to the Practice of Clinical Psychology from the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists.  In 2015 she was the first-ever recipient of the “Outstanding Alumni Human Services Practitioner Award” from the University of Virginia Curry School of Education Foundation. In 2016, the American Psychological Association recognized her accomplishments with an Ethics Educator Award for outstanding contributions to the profession of psychology through ethics education activities.
